Applied Improv Instructional Design Checklist

The clearer you are about your learning objectives and the needs of your participants, the more likely you are to achieve the outcomes you want, and to have your learners perceive your training as value.

Ask:

  1. What do I want people to DO differently?
  2. What knowledge do they need?
  3. What skills do they need to develop?
  4. What mindset shifts do they need to have?
  5. Given the context:
    1. What is most essential to address?
    2. What is most realistic to include?
  6. What activity/activities will address those pieces of knowledge, skills, and mindsets?
  7. Which ones will flow best together and give me the most bang for the buck?
