Goal Setting

Here is a quick a dirty job aid on goal setting. It's so easy we didn't even have anything to add in a podcast. But, as simple as it is, make sure you follow it when engaging in PREPARE and definitely in the Game Plan of DISCUSS. Enjoy!

The Goal Setting Job Aid

Here are some examples of good goals:

  1. By January 1, I will sell six new client engagements. Each engagement will minimally drive $50000 in gross revenue and complete in the first quarter.

  2. By July 1, my virtual coaching course will go live with at least 20 participants. All 20 will recommend the program to their colleagues as a great course.

  3. By March 31, the emergency department will drive down patient recidivism to under 5% with patient satisfaction increasing to 85%.

  4. By June 1, we will launch Product X with a meteoritic score of minimally 83 and a profit margin of 43% with the bug ration within normal TLA parameters.

  5. By December 31, I will have increased employee satisfaction on my team. Employee Sat scores will increase by 5% and there will be no unplanned departures.

Here is a magic trick. It relates directly to goal setting. Can you identify how so? The wonderful person helping Matt out is Jackie Pray. She had never before seen or experienced this trick before.

Ok, but that was too difficult to figure out, you say? Watch Matt do the trick again with Jackie. This time, you should be able to figure out the trick.

How was this trick done? How does this trick act as a metaphor for goal-setting? Click on the link below and answer the question. Once you answer, you can also look at what your peers said, as well as compare your answers to the facilitation team.
