TYPES OF QUESTIONS

  • Fact Questions: Questions about facts and external reality
  • Reaction Questions: Questions to get an immediate personal reaction to the data. These types of questions can elicit an emotional response and personal associations. Whenever we encounter objective information, we also have some subjective response.
  • Implication Questions: Questions to draw out meaning, values, significance, and implications.
  • Next Step Questions: Questions to determine resolution, action, or closure.

  • What are your top three risks? (FACT QUESTION)
  • What’s the probability of Risk #1 occurring? (IMPLICATION QUESTION)
  • What is the impact of Risk #1 to the project? (IMPLICATION QUESTION)
  • What is the mitigation plan for Risk #1? (FACT QUESTION)
  • Which risk are you most worried about? (REACTION QUESTION)
  • Does it keeping you awake at night?  (REACTION QUESTION)
  • When will I get the next update on these risks? (NEXT STEPS QUESTION)
