TYPES OF INFORMATION TO GATHER WHEN ASKING QUESTIONS
Technical Information: Pretty self-explanatory. This is information about the technical aspects of your project. Usually, this is information that you need to leverage from subject-matter-experts.
Project Status: Information about the schedule of your project, the risks, deliverables, milestones, quality, playability, etc.
Political Information: This is information that usually isn’t politically correct to overtly explore, but essential to recognizing how your decisions and activities are being perceived and interpreted by others. Often political information is for your background use only and is not publicly disclosed. This is information about how well people play together, people’s motives and agendas, different style approaches, status, who listens and influences whom, who really makes decisions, who is respected and why, etc.
Risk, Challenges, Issues, Obstacles: In many ways a subset of all three listed above, but very important to focus on as you identify information you need.
